What is Naveta des Tudons?

Naveta des Tudons is a funerary monument in Ciutadella and an example of Talayotic Menorca. Navetas are a type of funerary construction found only on Menorca, making this structure part of a distinctive local tradition.
Its builders used cyclopean construction, stacking large stones without mortar. The tomb served for collective burials. Excavations found the remains of around 100 people of different ages and sexes, along with grave goods and small vessels used for offerings.
Dr. Pericot and researchers M. Luisa Serra and Rosselló Bordoy excavated and restored the monument from 1959 to 1960, with a grant from Fundación March.
How do you get to Naveta des Tudons from Ciutadella?

Reach Naveta des Tudons by taking the main Me-1 road between Maó and Ciutadella to kilometre 40. Road signs mark the route to the site. The monument is in Ciutadella, and the drive from Grupoandria Hotel Platja Gran takes about 14 minutes.
The official Menorca Talaiòtica site describes the car park as ample and suitable for cars and buses. From there, follow the pedestrian path for about 400 metres to the monument. Allow for this walk when planning your arrival, and wear footwear suitable for an outdoor path.
A secondary visitor guide reports that there is no bus stop at the naveta and recommends taking a taxi from Ciutadella, estimating the ride at about 10 minutes. If you plan to use a taxi, arrange your onward journey as well.
